As part of my doctoral degree at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music, I set out to raise an awareness within the percussion community of the music of Giorgio Battistelli, an obscure, Italian composer that is most widely known for his opera-like productions. Often, Battistelli blends differing artforms within a single composition, and this is certainly the case in the works which I explored: Il Libro Celibe, Uno e trino, and Orazi e Curiazi. Below you will my recordings of these works, as well as a few short articles which discuss these pieces and Battistelli’s overall contributions to the percussion field.
